The Male Hormone Health Test with PSA evaluates the following biomarkers:
- Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH): this hormone is important in regulating the production of sperm in men.
- Free androgen index (FAI): measures the amount of testosterone available to act on the body's tissues.
- Luteinising hormone (LH): stimulates the Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone.
- Oestradiol: in men this hormone is responsible for modulating libido, erectile function and spermatogenesis.
- Progesterone: A hormone primarily produced by the ovaries in females and adrenal glands in both sexes. Progesterone is important in men in order to produce testosterone.
- Prolactin: A hormone tested in blood to diagnose and monitor conditions like infertility, pituitary disorders, and lactation abnormalities.
- Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA): A protein produced by the prostate gland. The test measures PSA levels in the blood to screen for prostate cancer and monitor treatment effectiveness.
- Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG): Biomarker used to assess hormonal balance. SHBG transports androgens in the blood and regulates their access to tissues.
